This Memorial Day weekend, three of my friends and I spontaneously drove from Brooklyn to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 11 hour drive somehow took us 19 hours, but the rivers, the barns half consumed by vines, and the warm, laid-back golden light of the south, made it worthwhile. For all of us, the trip was a taste of a life on the road we one day hope to live. These photos attempt to capture the freedom we felt on our escape from the city.
